A recessed mirror cabinet sits into the wall rather than on it. You get storage behind the mirror without a cabinet sticking out over the basin, which makes it a popular choice for smaller bathrooms and for clean, built-in designs. This guide covers what to check before you buy, and which of our LED mirror cabinets can be recessed.
Why choose a recessed mirror cabinet?
- More space: the cabinet sits within the wall, so it does not crowd the basin.
- A flush, built-in look: it suits the built-in technology trend in modern bathrooms.
- Hidden storage: toiletries stay behind the mirror, keeping the bathroom clutter-free.
What to check before you buy
- Plan it early: a recess has to be built into the wall, so it is easiest during a renovation or new build, before the walls are finished.
- Wall depth: check the cabinet's dimensions on the product page and make sure the wall can take a recess of that size.
- Electrics: an LED mirror cabinet with a shaver socket is connected to mains power, so it must be installed by a qualified electrician.
- Bathroom zones: our LED mirror cabinets are IP44 rated for bathroom zone 2. Check where yours can go with our bathroom zones and IP ratings guide.

Edge-lit or front-lit?
